Who are we?

Laptop Learning teaches computer skills to a variety of people through tailor made personal tuition sessions.

Our tutors are patient, understanding and professional. They are IT specialists with qualifications and experience in teaching further education. They tailor sessions solely to the client and handouts are specific to the client's computer. We don't use jargon and learning takes place at the ciient's own pace, in their own home or office. Group training can also be arranged at a convenient venue.

Cathy Gillard began the company in Spring 2006. She is a highly qualified teacher and computer specialist who realised that many people finished school before computers became popular. Cathy taught them how to use a computer for a new kind of work. Retraining was simpler because sessions were timetabled around working hours.

Laptop Learning's home based sessions also appeal to retired people. Producing greetings cards using their own photographs, making golf scorecards, creating and updating club accounts or designing newsletters are popular skills. Some clients want to learn email, web cams and Skype, so that they can stay in better touch with friends and family. The growth of digital photography has lead to more people wanting to learn how to transfer to computer, manipulate and email photographs.

Laptop Learning for Business

We specialise in one-to-one or group tuition for business computer users. Courses can be at beginner, intermediate or advanced level in many office applications.

A particularly popular training course is Microsoft Office Excel - offered at all levels, as are several of the other Office programs such as Word, Publisher and PowerPoint. Mac training is available and many other packages and systems can be covered.

Do you need to know about using Excel as a Database? Pivot Tables? Advanced charting and graphing?

Laptop Learning's one-to-one training sessions offer individuals the opportunity to make their own course from the features that they require right now, and at a time and place to suit them.

Group sessions are a little more rigid becasue they have to be appropriate for several people at once, but we limit the number of delegates so that each person gets as much individual attention as it is possible to offer.
